May 7, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1600 Voss Road about 2 a.m. on Sunday (May 6).

The identity of the male victim, 21, of Houston, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer T. Van reported:

The victim was driving a black Chrysler 300 at a high rate of speed north on Voss near San Felipe when he lost control of the vehicle, jumped a median curb, went across several lanes of oncoming traffic and then struck a tree.  Paramedics transported the victim to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing.
