March 9, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 3800 Broadway about 1:25 a.m. today (March 9).

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer M. Reyes reported:

An HPD officer attempted to stop the driver of a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe for a DWI investigation.  However, the female refused to stop and a pursuit ensued.  During the pursuit, a male passenger managed to exit the vehicle.  As the driver of the Tahoe was traveling westbound on Broadway ,she failed to drive in a single lane, lost control of her vehicle, and struck a concrete pillar under the Gulf Freeway
