Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 19250 Katy Freeway
June 22, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 19250 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 7:50 a.m. today (June 22).
The male victim, 51, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Officer Y. Estrada reported:
The victim was driving a black Nissan Armada eastbound in the 19200 block of the Katy Freeway service road at a high rate of speed when his vehicle struck the back of a beige Ford F-550. The Ford, a water tank truck contracted by the Texas Department of Transportation, was parked in the road with its hazard lights on and a traffic cone blocking the lane. The driver of the Armada was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
