January 18, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 5500 block of Duoto about 12:40 p.m. today (Jan. 18).

The male victim, Joe Gamez, 57, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer A. Mock reported:

Mr. Gamez, an independent dump truck operator, and another dump truck operator were working in a private dirt fill at the above location when one of the trucks got stuck in the mud.  Gamez walked behind the truck and instructed the driver to back up the vehicle.  As the dump truck reversed, Gamez was struck before he could move and died at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
