January 3, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4500 block of the West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610) about 3 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 2).
The identity of the 50-year-old male victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer J. Ortiz reported:
The victim was driving a beige Cadillac DeVille northbound on the West Loop South when he struck the retaining wall of the Westheimer exit. It is believed that after the accident, the victim exited the Cadillac and either jumped or fell from the elevated exit roadway onto the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) exit connector ramp to the West Loop South southbound.
At this time, there are no witnesses to the accident. The investigation is continuing.
