February 27, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6401 Hillcroft about 2 a.m. today (Feb. 27).
The identity of the victim, 30, is pending notification to his family members. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Officer M. Brady reported:
The restaurant at the above location was having a karoake event. The victim finished singing the lyrics to a song called "Somos Mas Americanos" (We Are More American), stepped from the stage and went back to his table with family and friends. At that time, an unknown Hispanic male suspect stood up from an adjacent table and pulled a pistol from his waistband. With no provocation, the suspect pointed the weapon at the victim and fired one time, striking him in the head.
The suspect fled the restaurant with three other males and jumped into a red Chevrolet pickup truck. Two females sitting at the suspect's table also left the restaurant and fled in a green Nissan Pathfinder before officers arrived. Both vehicles were last seen driving north on Hillcroft.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or the individuals who fled with him is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
