February 15, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 23000 block of the Eastex Freeway (North U. S. Highway 59) about 11 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 14).

The victim, Eduardo Garza, 18, of Splendora, suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer S. Martinez reported:

Mr. Garza was driving a silver Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northbound on the Eastex Freeway when he failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a white Isuzu flat bed tractor trailer truck.   Garza was then taken to the hospital where he died.  The driver of the Isuzu, who was not at fault, was questioned and released at the scene.
