August 22, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of two people at 4608 Beggs Street about 11 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 21).

One victim, Amanda Barajas, 24, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The other victim, Carlos Soto, 31, is hospitalized in stable condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Officer J. French reported:

Patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located Ms. Barajas and Mr. Soto inside the residence. Both had been shot. Investigators were told an unknown male suspect wearing a black uniform knocked on the door of the residence. When the victims answered the door, both were shot without provocation.

The suspect is described only as a dark-complected, black male in his mid to late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build.
