August 9, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 500 West Tidwell about 5:35 a.m. today (Aug. 9).

The victim, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer R. Tallent reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was trying to cross the street in the 500 block of West Tidwell and was struck by a pickup truck and passenger car, both of unknown make or model. The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
