September 14, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 9200 block of Hammerly Road about 10:10 a.m. today (Sept. 14).

The male victim, 65, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Francois and Senior Police Officer R. Ontiveros reported:

According to witnesses, the victim was driving a blue Toyota Tercel westbound on Hammerly when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed over into the eastbound lanes of Hammerly.  The vehicle then crossed back into the westbound lanes and struck a utility pole.  The victim died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
