October 24, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident in the 12600 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway service road about 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.

The identity of the female victim, 44, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer N. Luu reported:

The victim attempted to cross all lanes of Beltway 8 (the service road) when she was struck by a silver Toyota, possibly a Camry. The vehicle fled the scene. The female was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she later died.
