May 13, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 8900 block of Valley View Lane about 12:25 a.m. today (May 13).

The male victim, 14, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer S. Johnson reported:

The victim, along with four juvenile passengers, was driving a silver Honda LX westbound on Valley View at a high rate of speed and failed to stay in his lane.  The Honda went out of control and struck a tree.  The driver was killed.  Three of the passengers were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in unknown conditions and the fourth passenger was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in an unknown condition.

The investigation is continuing.
