March 23, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7000 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. 59) about 6:40 a.m. today (March 23).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehiclular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer D. Kizzee reported:

A black Chevrolet Suburban was traveling northbound on the Southwest Freeway when it struck a male pedestrian attempting to cross the freeway.  The driver provided a statement to investigators at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
