Fatal Traffic Accident at 13700 South Main
June 29, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 13700 South Main about 12:10 a.m. today.
The male victim, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Senior Police Officer S. Johnson reported:
According to witnesses, the victim was driving a silver Suzuki XL7 southbound on South Main. The Suzuki left the stop sign at Summit Ridge, crossed the northbound lanes of South Main and then made an illegal u-turn over a grassy median. The Suzuki then struck a blue Ford Explorer traveling south in the far left lane. The Ford rolled several times and came to a stop on the right shoulder. The driver of the Suzuki was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford was also transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.
