June 17, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 4600 Lockwood about 6:25 p.m. on Thursday (June 16).

The male victim, 38, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer T. Riley reported:

The operator of a blue Kawasaki 750 motorcycle was accelerating northbound on Lockwood when he passed a Houston Independent School District police officer in a marked patrol car.  Witnesses told investigators the driver of a silver Kia Rio made a left turn from Bunte into the path of the motorcyclist, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle and strike the driver’s side door of the Kia.  The female driver of the Kia was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

There are no charges in the accident at this time.

The investigation is continuing.
