Fatal Traffic Accident at 3000 North Eldridge Parkway

June 6, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 3000 block of North Eldridge Parkway about 8:05 p.m. on Sunday (June 5).
The 8-year-old female victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Stewart and Officer E. Rubio reported:

The driver of a white Chevrolet Yukon, with the 8 year-old victim as a passenger, was traveling southbound on North Eldridge Parkway when he slowed due to traffic and lost control of the vehicle. The Chevrolet left the roadway, went over a metal guardrail and then slid several yards before coming to a stop. The 8 year-old was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and transported to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
