January 31, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 6400 Westheimer about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 29).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer N. Rosenblatt reported:

The victim was crossing the street when he was struck by a small, dark colored vehicle.  The driver fled the scene without rendering aid.  A witness reported hearing a noise and then saw the vehicle strike the victim and then speed away westbound on Westheimer.
