January 4, 2011 - Houston police are investigating the death of a woman found after a fire was extinguished at 1135 Heights Boulevard about 4 a.m. on Monday (Jan. 3).

The identity and cause of death of the victim are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Hanslik and Senior Police Officer R. Chappell reported:

HPD homicide investigators were called to the scene of a house fire at the above location after a body was recovered in the rubble.  A fire was reported in the early morning hours and two females were believed missing and possibly still inside the residence.  At this time, a search for a possible second female victim is being conducted.

The investigation is continuing.
