February 28, 2011 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 125 Dyna about 12:10 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 26).
The suspect, David Garza (H/m, DOB: 6-30-90) is charged with murder in the 232nd State District Court. A photo of Garza is attached to this news release.
He is accused in the death of Robert Anthony Realyvasquez, 19, of Tomball, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Homicide Division Officers P. Vela and J. Rohling reported:
Mr. Realyvasquez and two friends pulled into the driveway of a gated apartment complex at the above address. While stopped behind another vehicle, Garza approached Realyvasquez's car, pointed the weapon and fired multiple times. Garza pulled Realvasquez from the car, entered the vehicle and fled the scene on Dyna, towards Airline.
An HPD patrol officer observed Garza run the red light at the intersection of Dyna and Airline and then turn southbound on Airline. The officer activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop Garza. Garza continued to flee south on Airline at a high rate of speed. The vehicle eventually became disabled and stopped at the dead end of Canino and the Hardy Toll Road. Garza then fled on foot but was taken into custody.
