February 28, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12220 Sapling Way about 1:30 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 27).

The identity of the deceased male child, one year of age, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Wilson and Officer C. Sartor reported:

A black Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling through the apartment complex parking lot at the above address when the child ran out in front of the vehicle. The child had been in an apartment but had found an open door and ran out and into the parking lot. The child was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed at this time. Alcohol was not a factor in this accident.
