February 7, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5600 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 3:55 a.m. last Friday (Feb. 4).

The male victim, 20, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead on Sunday (Feb. 6). His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Wilson and Officer P. Pham reported:

Due to ice on the roadway, several vehicles were involved in a traffic accident at the above location. Those drivers exited their vehicles and the victim was then struck by at least one other vehicle, which also slid on the ice.

The investigation is continuing.
