December 28, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 8700 block of the South Loop East (South Interstate Highway 610 East) about 9:10 a.m. today.

The identity of the male victim, 62, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. C. Francois and Senior Police Officer O. D. Lewis reported:

The victim was operating a white Harley Davidson 1200 motorcycle at a high rate of speed southbound in the 8700 block of the South Loop East traveling toward the Highway 225 East (La Porte Freeway) connector ramp. At some point, the victim lost control of the motorcycle and struck a right cement retaining wall. The victim died at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
