December 15, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 7100 South Gessner about 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 14).

The female victim, Margaret Smallwood, 57, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer T. Blakley reported:

Ms. Smallwood was attempting to walk across South Gessner in the middle of the block when she was struck by a gold Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The driver of the Silverado then fled the scene.
