Update: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4002 Corder
August 22, 2011 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4002 Corder about 12:50 a.m. on July 23.
The suspect, Glenn Terrance Sherman (b/m, DOB: 10-3-82), was originally charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon following the fatal shooting of Donald Griffin, 28, of Houston. Sherman is now charged with murder in the 179th State District Court in Mr. Griffin's killing. A photo of Sherman is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Countryman and Officer M. Brady reported:
Mr. Griffin was approached by a male suspect in the parking lot of the apartment complex at the above address and shot one time in the chest. Griffin collapsed and died. The shooter then fled the scene.
Further investigation identified a person of interest in this case, Sherman, who was seen walking around the apartment complex armed with pistols.
A warrant for felon in possession of a weapon was issued for Sherman and it was served later that day. After a brief standoff with HPD SWAT officers, Sherman was taken into custody without incident. At the time of his arrest, Sherman was wearing body armor.
Sherman was charged with felon in possession of a weapon and felon in possession of body armor in the 183rd State District Court. Further investigation led to the murder charge being filed against Sherman last Thursday (Aug. 18).
