August 22, 2011 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 100 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 6 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 21).

The identity of the male victim, 42, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer M. Mathews reported:

Witnesses said the victim was operating a green Honda Shadow motorcycle at a high rate of speed on the East Freeway and changing lanes near Travis St. when it struck a retaining wall and ejected the operator. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
