Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5400 Birdwood
September 24, 2010 - Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5400 Birdwood about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 19).
The shooter, Charles Ray Bryant Jr. (b/m, DOB: 4-26-81), is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. Bryant is accused in the killing of Kareem Kentriell James, 31, of the above address. Mr. James suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second suspect, Charlie Thomas Minix (b/m, 11-16-80), is charged with two counts of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in the 183rd State District Court. A third suspect, Alexandria Hudson (H/f, DOB: 10-7-92), is charged with possession of a controlled substance in the 208th State District Court.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Roberts and Senior Police Officer R. Chappell reported:
Mr. James was involved in a shootout with a male suspect in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The suspect fled with a female and another male driving in a gray Ford F-150 pickup truck.
Further investigation identified Bryant, Minix and Hudson as suspects in this case and, on Monday (Sept. 20), they were arrested without incident.
