Fatal Traffic Accident at 1500 State Highway 6

November 8, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1500 State Highway 6 about 7:30 a.m. today (Nov. 8).

The identity of the victim, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and pronounced dead, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Chambers and Officer I. Jefferson reported: 

The driver of a blue Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling north on State Highway 6 when the pickup crossed over into oncoming traffic.  The truck then sideswiped a gray Infinity I-35 and struck a red Chevrolet Cobalt head on.  A white Toyota Sienna then struck the rear of the Cobalt after the head-on collision.  The driver of the Cobalt was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.  The driver of the pickup was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition, while the driver of the Toyota was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in an unknown condition.  The driver of the Infinity was not injured. 

The investigation is continuing.
