Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 14700 Katy Freeway Service Road

November 1, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14700 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) service road about 7:20 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 30).

A male victim, 53, was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer R. Klementich reported:

The driver of a white Nissan box truck and the victim, operating a black Yamaha motorcycle, were westbound on State Highway 6 when they made a U-turn onto the eastbound Katy Freeway service road.  The driver of the Nissan turned into the second lane and the motorcyclist turned into the third lane.  The driver of the box truck then attempted to turn right from the second lane onto Grasshopper Lane and struck the motorcyclist.
