HPD Officer Dies Following Traffic Accident at 6100 North Freeway May 19, 2010 - An on-duty Houston police officer involved in a traffic accident at 6100 North Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 North) service road about 11:50 p.m. on Monday (May 18) has died from his injuries. Officer Eydelmen Mani, 30, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Officer Mani, assigned to the North Patrol Division, was sworn in as an officer in May 2003 after graduating from Cadet Class #182. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer J. Perrotte reported: Officer Mani was on duty and driving his patrol vehicle northbound on the North Freeway service road when, for reasons unknown, his vehicle veered left, went off the roadway into the grassy median and then struck a guardrail. HFD personnel extricated Officer Mani from his vehicle and transported him to the hospital in serious condition. The investigation into the accident is continuing.
