Suspect Charged in Incident at 7325 Bellerive March 22, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the robbery of a business in which a Houston police officer fatally wounded a second suspect at 7325 Bellerive at 11:30 p.m. on Friday (March 19). Trenard Desean Hill (b/m, DOB: 2-4-91) is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in the 248th State District Court. The deceased suspect, David Renauld Rogers (b/m, DOB: 3/15/89) died at the scene. Officer J.P. Horelica, who discharged his duty weapon, is assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division and was sworn in as an officer in December 2001. He was not injured. Officer C.M. Stevens, also assigned to the Midwest Patrol Division, was present but did not discharge his weapon. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R.J. Blain and Officer C.D. Sturdivant reported: Suspects Rogers and Hill entered the Dalami Food Mart and started to rob customers at gun point. At that time, Officers Horelica and Stevens drove up to the store in a marked police car and observed the robbery in-progress. As both suspects ran out of the store, Rogers pointed a gun at the officers. Officer Horelica gave Rogers verbal commands to drop his weapon, which Rogers ignored. Officer Horelica, fearing for his safety and the safety of those around him, discharged his duty weapon striking Rogers. Hill fled the scene on foot and was caught by Officer Stevens in a nearby apartment complex. As is customary in HPD officer-involved shootings within the city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions, as well as the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
