Charges Filed in Fatal Traffic Accident at Hempstead and Bingle March 15, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at Hempstead Highway near Bingle about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday (March 13). The suspect, Michael Anthony Reyna (H/m, DOB: 11-11-87) is charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault in the 185th State District Court. Reyna suffered a broken leg and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and was then taken into custody. The identity of the male victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene, is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. K. Richard and Officer A. Hart reported: The victim was traveling westbound on Hempstead Highway in a black Honda Civic and approaching the intersection of Bingle. Reyna, in a silver Buick LeSabre, was sitting at a red light on Hempstead waiting to make a left turn onto Bingle. Reyna ignored the red light, made a left turn onto Bingle and struck the Honda. The Honda spun around and struck a black Ford Explorer that was at the light on Bingle near Hempstead. The driver of the Honda was killed and the passenger was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition. The driver of the Ford was not injured.
