Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 9002 Sterlingshire March 8, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 9002 Sterlingshire #1810 about 10 p.m. on Saturday (Mar. 6). Brandon Jewel Cornett (b/m, DOB: 4-10-83), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused of shooting his wife, 42, who was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Munoz and Officers M. Khan and E. Schmidt reported: Patrol officers responded to a shooting in-progress call at the Sterlingshire Apartments. Upon their arrival, Cornett approached the officers with a cell phone in hand, stating that he had shot his wife. Officers went into the apartment and found the victim unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the torso. Cornett was taken into custody without incident.
