Charges Filed in Fatal Traffic Accident at 1600 North Loop West June 7, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 1600 block of the North Loop West (North Interstate Highway 610) service road about 11:05 p.m. on Friday (June 4). The suspect, Bartley James Kerr (w/m, DOB: 3-28-60), is charged with accident involving injury or death in the 177th State District Court. The male victim, 54, was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richard and Officer C. Long reported: The victim was attempting to cross the eastbound service road of the North Loop West when he was struck by a blue Ford Explorer that failed to stop. A witness followed the suspect and then called police. Further investigation identified Kerr as the suspect in this case and he was arrested a short time later without incident. VHS/KJS 6-7-10
