Fatal Traffic Accident at 6100 South Sam Houston Parkway

July 15, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6100 block of the South Sam Houston Parkway service road about 6:10 p.m. on Wednesday (July 14).

The female victim, 23, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Wilson and Officer J. Ortiz reported:

A dump truck traveling westbound on the South Sam Houston Parkway service road (Beltway 8) ran a red light at the intersection of West Fuqua. As the dump truck entered the intersection, it struck a maroon Ford Taurus traveling northbound on West Fuqua. The front passenger (victim) was taken to the hospital where she died. The female driver, 24, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition.

The investigation is continuing. No charges have been filed at this time.
