Fatal Traffic Accident on Hempstead at Dacoma

July 2, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Hempstead at Dacoma about 5:50 a.m. today (July 2).

The male victim was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehiclular Crimes Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Senior Police Officer G. Weinschreider reported:

The victim was driving a gold Buick Century eastbound on Hempstead when he ran the red light and turned left (north) onto Dacoma.  His vehicle struck an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on Hempstead through the intersection with a green light.  The victim remained at the scene until he heard sirens approaching.  At that time, he ran and then collapsed.  Paramedics arrived and transported him to the hospital.
