Suspect Sought in Fatal Shooting at 5330 Jezebel February 10, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 5330 Jezebel about 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 9). The suspect, Juan J. Castillo (H/m, DOB: 7-7-80), is charged with murder in the 177th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of his common-law wife, Monica Victoria Leija, 36, of the above address. Ms. Leija suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. HPD Homicide Division Officers E. H. Schmidt and J. E. Rodriguez reported: Ms. Leija was last seen when she went to work on Feb. 4. Family members contacted HPD patrol officers after they had been unable to make contact with Leija over the phone and when she did not show up for work on Feb. 5. Officers and HFD personnel went to Leija’s residence on Tuesday and found her deceased in the master bedroom. Further investigation and witness statements identified Castillo as the suspect in this case. He is believed to have fled in a green four-door 1997 Infiniti I-30 with Texas license plates BC9R855, which is registered to Leija.
