Investigation Into Fatal Accident at 9800 Hempstead February 3, 2010 - Houston police are investigating the apparent suicide of a man found in the 9800 block of Hempstead Highway about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 2). The deceased male has been identified as Michael Lee Spradlin, 50, and was believed to be homeless. Srpadlin was also known as Paul Everett Wilkins. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Torres and Senior Police Officer S. Anderson reported: Mr. Spradlin was found lying next to railroad tracks by railroad employees. Spradlin was first seen walking along the railroad tracks by a train’s engineer. It is believed Spradlin intentionally laid down on the tracks as a train was passing and was killed on impact. The investigation is pending an autopsy to be conducted by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
