Mr. Laster was seen struggling with two unknown male suspects between his 2010 Nissan Sentra and another vehicle. Both vehicles then sped away and Laster was left in the street at 6200 Sayers near Caplin. Investigators believe the two males robbed Laster for his vehicle. Laster suffered blunt force trauma and later died at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital.
An investigation identified Jacobs and Tillman as the suspects in this case. On Nov. 17, Tillman was arrested without incident. Investigators later learned Jacobs had been arrested in Walker County on Nov 17 and traveled there to speak with him. Jacobs admitted to investigators his involvment in Laster's death.
