Fatal Traffic Accident at Highway 290 and Gessner
August 2, 2010 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at the Northwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 290) service road near Gessner about 4:05 p.m. on Friday (July 30).
The male victim, 4, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition where he later died. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Wilson and Officer J. Ortiz reported:
The driver of a white Ford F-350 pickup truck was traveling westbound on the Northwest Freeway service road ran a red light a struck a green Honda Civic traveling northbound on Gessner. The Ford then struck a red Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck also traveling northbound on Gessner. A four-year-old boy (victim), a backseat passenger in the Honda,was transported to the hospital where he died. The occupant of the Chevrolet was not injured.
No charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is continuing.
