Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 6601 Dunlap

September 28, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6601 Dunlap about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 26).

The victim, Lerby Illescas, 21, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was later pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Senior Police Officer J. Bonaby reported:

Mr. Illescas was walking away from his friend’s apartment when he was shot in the back of the head. His friend heard two gunshots and found Illescas lying on the walkway near the apartment. At this time there are no known suspects and robbery is not believed to be a motive.
