Suspect Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at Sam Houston Tollway and Fuqua September 21, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at the South Sam Houston Tollway West and Fuqua about 1:20 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 20). The suspect, Juan Dubon (H/m, DOB: 12-24-69), is charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide in the 177th State District Court. The two victims, a 25-year-old female and a four-year-old male, were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identifications are pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. HPD Vehicular Crimes Sergeant D. Usher and Officer P. Tran reported: Dubon was driving a gray Plymouth Voyager westbound on the South Sam Houston Tollway when he ran a red light and struck a black Ford Explorer, occupied by the female and male victims, which was traveling northbound on Fuqua. The Explorer was pushed into a Chevrolet Trailblazer and both vehicles struck a traffic light pole and burst into flames. The driver and passenger of the Trailblazer were able to exit their vehicle but the Explorer’s driver and passenger were trapped inside their vehicle. The driver and passenger of the Trailblazer were transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in unknown conditions. Dubon was also transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and then taken into custody. JKS/VHS
