Fatal Traffic Accident at 10300 East Freeway

September 16, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 10300 block of the East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) about 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 15).

The female victim, identified as Shannon Woodall, 27, suffered a head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Usher and Officer E. Rubio reported:

According to witnesses, Ms. Woodall parked her vehicle in a parking lot at 10300 East Freeway, crossed the service road and climbed up the embankment to the freeway. After Woodall was on the shoulder of the freeway, she lunged out in front of an oncoming silver Dodge Magnum and was struck by the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
