Suspect Arrested and Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 7000 North Freeway

September 14, 2009 - A suspect has been arrested and charged in a fatal traffic accident in the 7000 block of the North Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 North) about 10:15 p.m. on Friday (Sept. 11).

The suspect, Jonathan Lee Turner (b/m, DOB: 3-28-1983), is charged with failure to stop and render aid in the 351st State District Court.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer R. White reported:

The victim was riding a bicycle across the North Freeway when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the tan Chevrolet Tahoe fled the scene without stopping to render aid.

Investigators later learned the Tahoe was driven by Lee. He was arrested and charged the following day in connection with the accident.
