Suspect Sought in Fatal Traffic Accident at 6900 Eastex Freeway

October 30, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 6900 Eastex Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 North) about 9:45 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 29).

The male victim, Abel Deleon, 42, of Houston, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Sorge and Officer A. Hart reported:

The driver of a white Hyundai SGL was southbound in the 6900 block of the Eastex Freeway when the Hyundai was struck from behind by a red Volvo driven by a female. Both vehicles veered to the right shoulder of the freeway where the Hyundai then struck Mr. Deleon, who was changing a flat tire on his green Toyota pickup truck. The driver of the Hyundai fled the scene on foot.
