Fatal Traffic Accident at 6900 Southwest Freeway

October 16, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 6900 block of the Southwest Freeway (U. S. Highway 59 South) about 4:15 a.m. today.

The victim, Ramon Medrano, 23, a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer D. Hall reported:

The driver of a green Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling southbound in the 6900 block of the Southwest Freeway when he veered to the right and struck a traffic light at the entrance ramp to the freeway. The Tahoe then struck a guardrail, rolled over and landed on the service road. Mr. Medrano was killed while the other occupants were transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Tahoe was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital for minor surgery to his hand.

The investigation is continuing.
