Fatal Traffic Accident at 2600 East Freeway

November 20, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2600 block of the East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East) about 3:30 a.m. today (Nov. 20).

The female victim, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer T. Turner reported:

The female victim was driving a tractor trailer truck westbound on the East Freeway when she veered into another lane and lost control of the vehicle. The tractor trailer truck then struck the guardrail and a concrete pole. The victim was killed. Further investigation determined the victim was not wearing her seatbelt.

There were no other vehicles involved in this accident.
