Investigation into Infant's Death at 3805 Sherwood Lane #41 November 19, 2009 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of an infant found at 3805 Sherwood Lane #41 about 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 18). The male infant, believed to be two months old, was found in an advanced state of decomposition. HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. D. Evans and Officer J. Harvey reported: Patrol officers responded to a person down call at 3805 Sherwood Lane #41 and met with the parents of a 24-year-old female, who reported that a relative smelled a foul odor from inside the apartment. The parents of the female then found what they believed to be the source of the odor underneath a bathroom vanity and made plans to discard the source of the odor and clean the area. The parents were later told the source of the smell was the remains of the infant, who had been wrapped in a blanket underneath the vanity. The parents of the female recovered the remains and met with responding officers. Further investigation and statements from the adult female determined she was the mother of the infant and admitted to giving birth on September 18. The investigation is pending the cause of death of the infant to be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. VHS/JFC 11-19-09
