Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 14000 Mary Kay Lane

November 2 , 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man found at 14000 Mary Kay Lane about 6:45 a.m. on September 13.

The suspect, Brenda Fay Nelson (b/f, DOB: 6-3-59), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. Nelson is accused in the killing of Perry Joshua Barefield, 52, of Houston, who suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Dillingham and Senior Police Officer J. Bonaby reported:

The body of the victim, Mr. Barefield, was discovered inside his vehicle. Initially, there were no known witnesses or suspects in the incident.

Further investigation identified Nelson as the suspect in this case and she was arrested at her residence today (Nov. 2) without incident.
