Suspect Charged in Male's Death at 7737 Harrisburg May 21, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a man at 7737 Harrisburg on March 15, 2009. The suspect, Ivis Fernando Barahona (w/m, DOB: 2/10/87), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Jose Cardenas Duarte, 37, of Houston. Mr. Duarte suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Barahona is currently being held in the Harris County Jail. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Padilla reported: Eastside Patrol Division officers responded to a disturbance call at an apartment at 7737 Harrisburg and, through the window of the apartment, saw a body inside. Officers entered the apartment and found the victim deceased. Further investigation identified Barahona as the suspect in this case and on Thursday (May 20) he was taken into custody. Barahona, who lived upstairs from where Duarte was found dead, admitted to his role in Duarte’s murder. JKS/VHS
