Investigation into Male's Death at 9713 Dulcimer

May 18, 2009 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9713 Dulcimer about 8:05 p.m. on Saturday (May 16).   

The victim, Daniel Mario Towns, 40, of Monroe, Louisiana, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and died at Ben Taub General Hospital on Sunday (May 17).   

HPD Homicide Division Officers M. Khan and T. Pool reported: 

Mr. Towns and a friend were staying with a local friend at 9713 Dulcimer when they arrived at the house and were surprised by suspects already positioned in the house in order to rob the men.  During the robbery, Towns was shot in the face and the friend was forced into a closet.  The suspects, described only as three or four black males in their early 20s, immediately fled the scene.  The friend was able to call nearby relatives who transported Towns to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead after undergoing surgery early Sunday.
